How to write a great CV✅

🧹Dusting off the old resume but you realise it’s no longer the best and most up to date reflection of you? Then here are some top tips for writing a great CV🔥

- Creating a professional summary📝

This is one of the first things an employer will see so make it enticing and professional. Include key qualifications, made specific to the job and include some of your personal qualities to help the employer build a picture of their potential future colleague. You could use positive words that a previous manager would use to describe you.

❌Avoid corporate jargon

- Key Skills🛠️

This section could be make or break for an employer, if the skills they are looking for don't jump out at them then they may hastily move on. It should include bulleted skills that match the job description such as; achievements, hard and soft skills, specific job-related qualifications etc.

- Work Experience/ Employment History🏢

Start with your most recent role first. Keep the description of responsibilities short and to the point but ensuring you aren’t missing any vital info. Any paragraphed job descriptions run the risk of drowning out the more important points.

Job Title, Company Name, Dates From – To

Responsibilities:

- Education and Qualifications🎓

Put your most recent qualifications first and work backwards.

Name of Qualification, Training Provider/ Institution, Dates

Grade/ Result

You should also include any specific training/ learning you did during your studies which may aid you in the role you are applying for.

- Hobbies and Interests🎨

This should be one or two sentences maximum about what you like to do in your spare time to give the employer an extra insight into your personality.

CV writing can be difficult, it’s a skill in itself, but its important to remember not to overthink it. Include the necessities, but don’t waffle on! Tailor the CV to the job you are applying for but remember that anything you include may be brought up in interview. Finally, make sure your CV is in a simple format and that it is easy to read📖
